Overview

Nestled in the heart of Cisco, Texas, Antojitos El Tapatio offers an authentic taste of Mexican cuisine that truly captures the spirit of home-cooked flavors. This family-owned restaurant, located just off the main street, delivers an inviting experience steeped in tradition and warmth.

The menu presents a rich variety of classic dishes, from savory tacos and enchiladas to hearty fajitas and inventive burritos. Highlights include the tender carne asada plate and the perfectly seasoned chicken and steak fajitas, served sizzling hot to preserve their bold flavors. Breakfast options like Huevos Rancheros and Huevos Con Machaca resonate with those seeking a vibrant start to their day. The homemade horchata and robust coffee provide comforting accompaniments that complement the meal beautifully.

Patrons consistently praise the fresh, generous portions and well-balanced seasoning that make each dish memorable. The flautas stand out for being crisp yet light, avoiding the greasiness sometimes associated with fried foods. A steady stream of patrons attests to the restaurant’s fast, friendly service, even during busy hours, highlighting the attentive nature of the staff and the owners' genuine interest in guest satisfaction.

While the dining space is modest and could benefit from improved ventilation, this does little to detract from the overall experience. The smoky aroma, a byproduct of the kitchen’s authentic cooking methods, permeates the air and adds an element of rustic charm for some, although others might prefer takeout options to avoid the haze.

Designed to attract locals and travelers alike, Antojitos El Tapatio stands out as a neighborhood gem and a must-visit for those passing through Cisco. Its approachable atmosphere, combined with satisfying, flavorful meals, makes it a dependable choice for anyone seeking genuine Mexican comfort food in a welcoming setting.

The only problem I saw was the fact they need a better exhaust system for the kitchen. The entire dining area was filled with smoke from food cooking. The food was good, I would eat there again, but I might do take out.

On a road trip across the country, stopped in on our way to the abandoned zoo on the outskirts of Cisco. I highly recommend for authentic Mexican food. Such good enchiladas, tacos, rice, and refried beans. Really friendly family owns the place that we got to chat with. Great experience!

Just a block off the main drag. I wish I knew this place existed years ago. I go through Cisco 1 or 2 times a year. We discovered Antojitos el Tapatio this time through town. You can tell right away it's a family owned business. The entire family is fantastic! We googled where to eat at our halfway point on our trip. My wife showed me some videos of a random voice talking up this joint. I thought that's alot of bravado for a restaurant. Well. It ain't bragging if you back it up. Fan-freaking-tastic! This just became our default Cisco chow stop. We both had a taco plate. Barbacoa, chicken, and pork. Everything was on point! The wait staff was great, the owner stopped by and genuinely was interested in what we thought about our visit. That speaks for itself. None of anything really matters when the food was that delicious! RECOMMEND 100%!

The horchata, and the coffee mugs were great, and the food was really good. Although the atmosphere could use some work.

This place is a neighborhood gem! We had the chicken flautas and combo fajitas and both were excellent. The flautas were large, fresh and crispy. They were not greasy at all. The fajitas came out hot and sizzling and the meat was seasoned well. The chips were delicious and the salsa had just the right amount of heat. The staff were very friendly and the service was fast even though they were crowded.

A pleasant surprise! The service was outstanding and the food was hot off the smoker, which sits out front of the restaurant. We had smoked chicken and pork ribs. The owner brought out all the sauces to try and they were all amazing! The homemade tortillas were fresh, hot and plentiful. The beans and rice were very good and the alternate sides of potato salad & coleslaw were also fresh and delicious! The entire staff was very attentive and the owner came by several times to get our opinion about the food.

This was an exquisite find on our travels through West TX. We only had the tacos but they were so good, I'd make a three hour trip just to have a chance to eat here again. The owners were friendly and the food tastes of all the love it is given. Strongly recommend you to stop if you are in the area!

Authentic Guadalajara-style Mexican food! The tacos were phenomenal and made fresh to order. We tried all the different kinds between the two of us and they were all good, but especially recommend the pollo and asada tacos! They also had an excellent selection of Mexican soft drinks, and the salsa and chips were freshly made and delicious. Highly recommend, and we will definitely be back!! If you're thinking of stopping by- do it, you won't regret it!!
